Join us for a presentation by Tom Grundy, PE, WRS, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the completion of the Virginia & Gold Hill Water Company’s Water System to supply Virginia City and Gold Hill from the Sierra Nevada Mountains in 1873.  That system which has evolved to become the Marlette Lake Water System, continues to operate and serve the Comstock and Carson City today. Tom will discuss the history, engineering and hydraulics of the system.

Speaker Bio:

Tom Grundy is a Carson City native, with a degree in Environmental Resources Engineering focusing on Water Resources from Humboldt State University (Cal Poly Humboldt).  Tom spent 20 years working in the public sector, concentrating on municipal water system design and operation, hydraulic modeling, land development, capital projects and project permitting. For the last 4 years of his public sector work, Tom focused on the operations side, gaining further knowledge on the difference between what looks good on paper and what functions long term in the field.

Tom is a licensed civil engineer and water rights surveyor in the State of Nevada and holds Nevada T3 and D4 water system operator certifications. He is an ASCE Capital Branch past treasurer and president. He is also the founder and principal engineer of AquaNV, a Carson City based engineering firm focusing on water. Tom has been fascinated by water in motion his entire life.
