Join us for a presentation from East Fork Fire Protection District Deputy Chief/Fire Marshal Amy Ray. Her presentation will include the development process from beginning to end, including the differences in fire protection jurisdictions; the laws, ordinances, and Codes governing development; the plan review process; specific design requirements; and the process for inspections.
Speaker Bio:
Deputy Chief/Fire Marshal Ray began her career in the fire service the summer after she graduated high school as a seasonal wildland firefighter in California. Upon moving to Reno to attend college, she began working as a seasonal wildland firefighter for Washoe County. While on special assignment in the Fire Prevention District, she discovered how much she liked the work and began the process toward education and certification as a Fire Inspector, Plans Examiner, Fire Protection Specialist, Fire Investigator, and Fire Officer. She continued her education and received her Master’s Degree in 2013 in Executive Fire Leadership and Disaster Preparedness. She has held the positions of Firefighter, Fire Inspector and Fire Marshal within the area over the course of her 31-year career. She loves the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
